My name is Dan and I love teaching AutoCAD.
I deliver AutoCAD training courses throughout Ireland for businesses and government agencies. I come to you with laptops or you can use my training room in central Dublin. Together we’ll find a date and course outline that will help you love AutoCAD as much as I love teaching it.
If there was a way to turn your imagination into plans that others could use, take a few lines and turn them into a fully realized set of drawings, that would be pretty impressive, right? If you want to turn heads and bring your ideas into the real world, then you need AutoCAD to create plans, documents, measurements and even 3D renderings. And to harness that power, you need the right AutoCAD training that gives you an industrial strength foundation. AutoCAD can power your designs, and we can power your AutoCAD skills. You want to work with the best tools, and we want to give you the best start to mastering the software so many companies and industries depend on.
Bring Your Own Laptop is driven by the need for training that doesn’t waste your time, or cut corners. Your instructor (that’s me, Dan) brings that balance where you get the best hands on training, you learn by doing, and no one gets left behind. My AutoCAD course teaches you AutoCAD the way it was written to function. And you learn by asking questions, getting answers and working on projects where you not only learn how to use AutoCAD, but you learn why it’s done that way.
Who should attend
If you want the best start for working in architecture, industrial design or even interior design, or you only have a limited understanding of AutoCAD, this is hands on training that starts from the very beginning.

This is a foundational course – the part you want to get right. No missing pieces or bad habits to slow you down. Oh, and no 500 page manual to wade through on your own. You’ll be working with a group of people who, just like you, have questions and need to get the right information to enable their goals.
No dusty lecture halls, and no trying to keep up with videos – and no wondering if you’ve missed something. That’s why my interactive (as in real people talking to real people) training works so well. You can ask a question any time and get the answer when you need it. And you get immediate feedback as you work through projects so you’re sure you got it right, and even if there was a different way to do it. You’ll actually know you’ve learned it.
I make sure you learn how to navigate the software, understand what the different tools are and how to use them, and how to actually make the right things happen in AutoCAD. The course is designed to unlock the essential flow of design in AutoCAD, and I make sure you know how people in industry apply those tools and techniques. Leave outdated academic thinking behind – you will train with the latest version and the current practices.
I love to geek out on software and delve into the way the developer intended. I spent a lot of time in this endeavor so you can learn a spectacular amount in just a few days. I know what to teach so you’ll have the best possible start, and a complete understanding of the basics to build your future mastery on.
This course assumes you have no prior knowledge of AutoCAD itself, though if you’ve used it sparingly, you’re going to really benefit from getting a complete look at how projects are created from the very beginning. Learning how to select the right tools and use them in the most efficient manner is really going to make you look good.
The aim of the course is to get you comfortable with the interface, learn how to import and work with other design elements and projects, what the drafting tools are capable of, and how to keep track of objects and layers, and of course how to view your work in a variety of styles and levels of detail.
Since its digital, and not paper, editing and reusing elements and objects is the obvious strong suit, but did you know AutoCAD has the ability to make ‘smart drawings’ with parametric tools that allow changes to ripple through your project without breaking your designs. This allows you to maintain the right measurements and scales, and output your plans or sets of plans with real world standards in place. And I’ll even show you how to prepare those files to be used or printed properly the way professionals need them.
Knowing your way around AutoCAD, thanks to excellent training, is more than just a skill, in many arenas it’s a requirement. Getting the right start is just as important. But I don’t just leave you to your own devices once the training is finished – I know you’re still going to have questions later on. You get 12 whole months of AutoCAD email support from me! If you need to know, or you don’t remember, I’m there to help.
I also know it can be a real stress trying to pay attention and take notes at the same time. I’ve developed a customized set of notes that perfectly reflect the projects and instruction you get during the course. I even print it for you so you have a handy reference during and after the training.
You can either train at my Dublin facility, or I can come to you for one on one or group training. Just ask. I can also customize the training to bring your company or your staff the skills that are essential to your needs. Again, just ask.
I train on MAC or PC, just have the latest version of AutoCAD installed, or if you don’t have a laptop when you come to our training location, you can borrow one of ours.
I’ve got many years of experience in design and teaching, and it’s all for you. If you want the best possible start in AutoCAD, then Bring Your Own Laptop has it. It’s not just the content, it’s the quality experience that BYOL’s interactive hands on training is world famous for.
So now is the time to call me (Dan) and book yourself and your skills in for a truly complete start in AutoCAD.
My rate is €700 per day.
*There can be travel costs if you require training outside of Dublin.
Classes should be between 1 and 9 learners.
Dates are flexible. If you give me an idea of timing I can email you my available dates.
