Course Title: After Effects Training
Summary: Get one on one Adobe After Effects training, or customised group training, from the most certified Adobe instructor in Ireland. Dan teaches and consults with a large number of businesses around the world, but Dublin is home base and he can teach you the basics, or create a custom training outcome that matches what you or your company needs to produce with Adobe products.
All of BYOL Ireland’s Adobe After Effects training comes with printed notes and after course email support. BYOL courses are results-driven hands on training where you learn After Effects by using it to create real world projects.
You can come to Bring Your Own Laptop’s facility, and laptops are provided if required, or you can host the After Effects training at your place, in your town.
Dan has a unique skill in showing you how all the Adobe products interact, and how to coordinate not just After Effects, but a raft of other platforms and skills to get the most training for your money. Dan is fond of proving the ‘zero to hero’ model of taking you from little or no skill to being able to produce content with After Effects with the most efficiency – and keeping the training fun and unique to your needs.
Again, the big difference with BYOL is that the training can be at your location or theirs, you can easily customise the outcomes of the training, and it’s not just a rehash of ‘Adobe After Effects Classroom in a Book’ like so many others.

The session is for beginners and is aimed at designers and artists who have web video as an intended platform.

Course Title: After Effects CS5 CS6 CC Intro
Summary: Mullan IT training offers a number of courses, and their After Effects CS5 CS6 CC Intro is part of a small suit of Adobe software training courses.
The list of topics covered reads like the table of contents from Adobe After Effects Classroom in a Book, and covers a huge range of topics. A lot more than one could cover in depth in a 2 day course, so you need to check that the specific topics you need are covered in the depth required.
A knowledge of windows is specified, so possibly not the course for a Mac user – but beyond that, no experience with After Effects needed. The training is promoted as a great introduction of what After Effects is capable, and offers you the confidence to begin using After Effects for ‘commercial or home use.’
You’ll get the rundown on the workflow from creating a project, layers, and animating a composition (a.k.a a ‘comp’ in After Effects speak).
The course outline continues on to cover text, shape layers, masks, the puppet tool, color correction, 3D features and the camera tracker.
It takes weeks, months and years to fully exploit some of the tools mentioned, so don’t forget this an introductory class for the beginner – a chance to understand the essentials and get a springboard into the world of Adobe After Effects.
You will need to contact the company directly for a lot of class details, including the cost and how often the course is run.

Course Title: Adobe After Effects Introduction
Summary: The Knowledge Academy, based outside of London, teaches IT, business management, health and safety, and also offers Adobe certification.
They have 4 Ireland locations with regular dates for running Adobe After Effects Introduction, but no details of exactly where other than the promise of ‘luxury’ training locations.
Some websites really want you to contact them for details, and the scarcity of information on this site leaves you with no choice but to call or email to get any substantive overview of the After Effects training you’ll get for the money.
The course content listed only includes “what is a project file, and what is in it?” and “tools and panels.”
The course is recommended for people wanting to work primarily in broadcast video, though there is some mention of video for web. If you’re new to After Effects, then it doesn’t matter as the program’s basics are essential for any application, and this course will help you familiarise yourself with the After Effects interface, working with and controlling or modifying layers, the effective use of colour and how to export a project.
The course comes with notes, exercises, a manual and the requisite experienced instructor. Refreshments are also included. Let’s hope they are as ‘luxurious’ as the locations they’re served in for more than double the price of most other courses in Ireland.
Course Title: Adobe After Effects Intermediate
Summary: The Knowledge Academy, based just out of London, offers several Adobe After Effects training dates a year around Ireland. The website states that the training is held in nationwide ‘luxury venues.’
You will need to check the website and call directly to receive current training dates and any details about the training. Whenever we visited the site, despite announcing 24 hours 7 day a week contact, the live support was unavailable. Try emailing first.
Subjects covered, as listed by the website included 3 random topics: Learn about the 3rd dimension (After Effects works in all 4), understand how to shape layers and learn the importance of stroke effects.
Given that this is billed as an intermediate course, we’re left to assume you will need a basic knowledge of how After Effects works, and that the training here is to build on your existing experience.
There is no mention of Adobe certified instructors (or course outcomes) but you do get ‘world class training instructors’ and a mention that the training includes material and manuals.
